Field Training Days
I am trying to organize regular field training days. I want to encourage people who have never done field training before to come and try it out! I would also love to see our members who have field titles come out for practice, its great to have a visual example of what we are working towards. Keep checking the events page for updates on the field training days. Katy knows of some land near Gainesville that can be used on Saturdays, Claire Koshar has offered her property which is west of Orlando on some Sundays, and we are looking for more locations. If you know of any potential training sites please contact Alison at aschultz@southernskiesfcrc.org Don't know what to bring to a field training day? Check out this artical with lots of tips!! http://www.southernskiesfcrc.org/field.html .

Sunday November 14 at 10 am to 1 pm at Claire Koshar's in Montverde (just west of Orlando). RSVP to Claire summerhill@intellistar.net or Alison aschultz@southernskiesfcrc.org for directions. Bring your lunch and enjoy some fun training with your dogs!

Sunday November 21 at 3pm Southport Park (next to Orlando International Airport) RSVP to Alison at aschultz@southernskiesfcrc.org for directions.

Sunday Dec 19th 10 am Pam Hind's in Tampa

Retrieve/Scent Article Seminar
Sunday Nov. 28
.at Best Paw Forward www.bestpaw.com 407-328-0550, 407-327-1920
Retrieve Seminar 9 a.m. Starting your dog’s retrieving work should be fun for you both. Even if you want to go on to a compulsive retrieve eventually, you and your dog will benefit from starting with a gentle play retrieve. And many dogs of various breeds, including those with advanced obedience titles, never need to be forced with clicker work and shaping.

Scent Article Seminar 12:00 noon: Absolute Day 1 Beginners through Advanced Levels. Fun, fast scentwork focusing on competition obedience scent articles, but you are welcome to use any safe article you choose. Beginners sometimes enjoy starting with alphabet blocks, for instance, so they can teach dogs to “spell their names.” Be as creative as you like.

$35 for both workshops if registration received by Nov. 13, $45 for both workshops on day of seminars

Single session $25 to register at door; $20 in advance

UKC Hunt Test
December 4-5
Montverde, FL Central Florida Hunting Retriever Club UKC Hunt test and Upland Hunt http://www.cfhrc.net/ . There will also be a "Puppy" Fun Test at 12:00 noon on Saturday. There are no set rules for "puppy", inexperienced adult dogs can enter too! Usually, they will throw a wing or a pigeon, a couple of times on land and a couple of times in the edge of the water. It all depends on the dog, the age and experience. It's fun and the dogs enjoy it. You don't even need to fill out an entry form.. Just send Marilyn Dumas mdumas@mfi.net your name, dogs name, and age. This will give CFHRC an idea how many are entered, so they can allow enough time.

Even if you decide not to enter, come on out to watch and cheer on the others. There are 3 levels- Started, Seasoned and Finished. This hunt test also has the bonus of an Upland Hunt (flushing and retrieving birds).
